Manokwari has long been famous as a must visit destination for visitors who want to see birds of paradise. There are several rainforest areas in Manokwari regency that are frequently visited by birders, and wildlife photographers. One of them is Susnguakti forest. It is part of the lower montane forest of Arfak range. It could be reached by car for 1 hour. After arriving at the foot of Susnguakti forest, visitors need to continue their trip on foot by hiking up steep slopes for around 1 hour. There are huts in the rainforest of Susnguakti which were built by local villagers for visitors. They could stay there for a few days to watch birds, insects, mammals and reptiles.
